The Best Fall Treats to Try in Lexington

As the leaves begin to change color and Halloween lurks around the corner, here are just a few of the tastiest autumn goodies that Lexington’s bakeries, coffee shops, and other local businesses have to offer.

Just be aware: these mouth-watering must-tries will no doubt have you coming back for more throughout the fall season.

Coffee Times Coffee House: Hazelnuccino

Coffee Times’ signature Hazelnuccino, as you might have guessed, is a delicious hazelnut-flavored cappuccino that’s well worth a drink any time of year, but is especially perfect for the fall season. In addition, the beloved Lexington coffee shop features other fall drinks like their Frozen Caramel Chai and seasonal coffee beans you can take home with you (think flavors like Pumpkin Pie and Caramel Pecan, just for starters.)

North Lime Coffee & Donuts: Pumpkin Donuts

…and not just one of them, either. North Lime is known for going all out on their seasonal donuts, and the month of October includes specialties like Pumpkin Cold Brew Filled, Pumpkin French Toast, and Glazed Pumpkin Cake. If pumpkin isn’t your thing, you’re covered, though– other menu items throughout the month include Apple Cider Cake, Spiced Chai, and Caramel Apple Pie. To see what North Lime has for each day, check out their October Donut Schedule.

Maggee’s Baking Co.: Apple Danish

Few things rival a solid danish if you’re a fan of these flaky, fruit-flavored treats. And if you love a good apple pie, too, then you can have the best of both worlds at Magee’s by ordering their delicious Apple Danish. Other fall-appropriate pastries available include their Pecan Danish, Pumpkin Muffin, and– if you make reservations– Halloween cookies.

West Sixth Brewing: Dankechain Oktoberfest Lager

In celebration of Oktoberfest, West Sixth Brewing has their Dankechain Oktoberfest lager on tap. Though their Lexington taproom is their hometown location, it’s not the only place you can enjoy West Sixth’s brews. For serious beer connoisseurs, it’s worth checking out their Louisville and Frankfort locations as well, with each taproom boasting a unique lineup of local craft beers.

Good Foods Co-Op: Pumpkin Praline Muffin

If you stop in the Good Foods Co-Op on Southland Drive at the right time, you’ll get a chance to try their seasonal baked goods, which include everything from classic apple pie to pumpkin pie-flavored cheesecake. One treat that’s sure to bring some extra cheer to your breakfast is their Pumpkin Praline muffin, which features a tasty icing drizzle and candied pecans. You’ll also be able to peruse the Good Foods grocery, which is chock full of seasonal delicacies and gift items of all sorts.

Crank & Boom Craft Ice Cream: Spice Cookie Crumble

Crank & Boom has a few different fall flavors to choose from, including Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream. They’ve also got a spectacular Spice Cookie Crumble flavor, which demands your tastebuds ASAP next time you’re near the Distillery District or the Clays Mill area. For those forgoing the lactose (or anyone who wants some frozen caramel goodness), you can indulge in their Caramel Praline non-dairy ice cream.

Lets get to work!
