Lexington Best Vegan and Vegetarian Eats, Part 2

While plant-based options are becoming increasingly popular at a variety of restaurants, including restaurants whose main draw are their meat products, having reliable options that have a bigger variety makes eating out a lot less of a complicated affair. To help with the search here’s part two of our guide to the best meatless-friendly spots in Lexington, complete with a few recommendations of what to look out for when you stop by.

Bourbon ‘n Toulouse

Where: 829 Euclid Avenue

Specialities: Cajun and Creole cuisine

Bourbon ‘n Toulouse has a few different choices for a variety of dietary needs, but perhaps the most iconic are their vegan jackfruit BBQ sandwich (served with vegan coleslaw to top it all off) and vegetarian black bean and caramelized corn dish. There’s also a black bean-only dish that forgoes the dairy used in the former, so everyone can enjoy a taste of this local favorite. With the restaurant situated in the iconic Euclid Avenue area, it’s surrounded by countless things to do in downtown Lexington.

Blaze Pizza

Where: 4049 Finn Way

Specialties: Pizza and salads

Blaze Pizza offers salads, but fortunately, that’s not all they offer for their vegan customers. Not only are their original high-rise, and gluten-free crusts vegan-friendly, but they offer dairy-free cheese, which can be used not only on their pizzas but on a veganized version of their cheesy bread. Their fresh berry salad is vegetarian, and just skipping the feta cheese makes it vegan as well. Combined with a wide array of available toppings (including spicy chorizo!), Blaze is easily one of the best places to get animal-free equivalents of almost every pizza parlor staple.

The Social Vegan

Where: 101 West Loudon Avenue

Specialties: All-vegan menu

As the name suggests, everything here is made without animal products– no guesswork involved. Their menu boasts a variety of unique dishes as well as veganized versions of classics; you can get a traditional veggie burger, but you can also get a ‘chicken’ Philly sub sandwich or fried coconut ‘shrimp’. The sheer number of options, many of which can’t be found anywhere else in Lexington, makes this relatively new restaurant already the go-to spot for both vegans and the vegan-curious.

Tandoor Indian Cuisine and Bar

Where: 3146 Mapleleaf Drive

Specialties: Indian cuisine

Tandoor has more than just meatless options– it has an entire menu section devoted to plant-based dishes, several of which are completely vegan. This isn’t even counting their appetizers, soups, breads, and curries, which also have veggie options. This Indian restaurant is beloved by omnivores and herbivores alike for its authentic and delicious food, having been around for more than a decade and serving both lunch and dinner.

Lets get to work!
