Holiday Treats in Lexington, KY

We’re past the halfway point in December– which means that winter holidays are either underway or just around the corner.

Though the holiday season is often filled with festive goodies, if you pay a visit to Lexington’s small businesses, you’ll find some limited-time local exclusives.

Check out our list of sweet treats you won’t want to miss out on!

Coffee Times Coffee House: Snowy Cabin Cocoa

Though sipping on any regular hot cocoa is more than a sufficient way to pass the time in the winter, the flavors of maple and white chocolate served up by Coffee Times nearby Southland Drive make for a special occasion. The popular drink spot features a monthly “Try-This” menu with all sorts of seasonal beverages, coffee, and non-coffee. For those looking for a caffeine boost as they finish those last-minute holiday errands, Coffee Times’ Gingerbread Moka is another delicious option, although you can also add some espresso to your hot cocoa for an energetic twist on a holiday classic.

North Lime Coffee & Donuts: Holiday Specialty Donuts

December donut specials at North Lime’s two Lexington locations include the likes of the White Chocolate Cranberry Fritter, Vegan Peppermint Mocha, and Maple Pecan. You can even pick up a Holidozen box of donuts, perfect for events or to share with loved ones just because (tis the season, after all.) All of North Lime’s classics are still available, of course, including the festively-colored green and red Funkfetti donuts. The shop also has holiday-themed coffee and tea like Santa’s Snickerdoodle and Christmas Morning, as well as drinks like Candy Apple Spice to keep you warm on winter mornings.

Sweet Creations Bakery: Gingerbread Cookies

Despite its name, Sweet Creations Bakery actually has a wide range of food, from burritos and sandwiches to salads and turnovers. Their namesake items, of course, are delicious pastries like danishes, donuts, tres leches cake, and conchas. Of course, there’s one iconic Christmastime cookie that you’re liable to find on Sweet Creations’ counter this December: Gingerbread men, iced and baked to perfection. While you’re there, you might also want to give their cupcakes topped with buttercream icing a try or get yourself a coffee for the road.

Crank & Boom Craft Ice Cream: Reindeer Chow

You can always count on Crank & Boom to have an array of seasonal flavors, and they mean business– for instance, their Peppermint Brownie ice cream features massive brownie chunks and real crushed candy canes. Reindeer Chow is among the latest flavors to drop, and like the famous homemade snack mix, it combines peanut butter and white chocolate with M&Ms and Chex cereal. You can get this crunchy ice cream concoction by the pint to enjoy at home, or stop by for a scoop or two (or three. Nobody’s judging.)

BabyCakes Cupcakes: Holiday Delight

Take a look at BabyCakes’ menu and you’ll be greeted with an impressive list of gourmet cupcakes perfect for enjoying year-round– but there are also some seasonal cupcakes like Holiday Delight, a cranberry cupcake topped with vanilla-flavored buttercream. You might also enjoy Hanzel & Gretel, a gingerbread cupcake with cinnamon and BabyCakes’ same iconic vanilla buttercream. Really, you can’t go wrong with the buttercream– or any of their Cocktail Cakes, like Long Winter Nights or Warm Fuzzies.

Lets get to work!
