Whether you’re making a one-time purchase or subscribing to a service, many companies offer discounts to college students who buy their products. Here are a few of the most popular discounts to be on the lookout for.
Spotify and Apple Music
The tossup between Spotify and Apple Music is a contentious battle for some, but no matter which side you fall on there’s a student discount for you. Both services’ premium subscriptions cost $9.99 a month– unless you’re a student, in which case you could be paying $4.99 a month instead just by entering some credentials.
The New York Times
The New York Times offers a student discount, but you can also read the Times for free through many educational institutions. Be sure to check with your school to see if your institutional email can net you free access.
Youtube Premium
Besides eliminating advertisements, YouTube offers a few perks for Premium members, including background play, YouTube Music services, and offline viewing via video downloads. The service normally costs $11.99, but students can get it for $6.99.
Hulu
College students can get Hulu (the ad-supported version) for just $1.99 a month compared to its normal $6.99 cost. The service’s ad-free version currently doesn’t offer a student discount, however. Netflix, HBO Max, and Peacock do not offer student discounts, although Apple TV+ and Paramount+ have student plans available.
Skillshare
University students have access to 50% off their first year of Skillshare, an online platform which offers classes for a wide range of skills and topics. After the first year, however, the subscription returns to its standard price.
Adobe
Students can get a 60% on Adobe’s Creative Cloud suite of products– including Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, and other programs. Be aware of which payment plan you’re choosing when signing up, as their annual subscription paid monthly could land you with a sizable cancellation fee.
Nike
Many may not be aware that Nike actually provides 10% discounts to college students– as well as high school students, medical workers, and first responders. Verifying your student status will get you a discount code you can use on the site.
UNiDAYS Brands
There’s a long list of brands that offer student discounts through the UNiDAYS service, such as Aerie, Under Armour, Chegg, and even a student discount for a Disney+ subscription. Some of these offers are limited time only, so be sure to jump on them while you still can. While UNiDAYS is probably best known for the offers on clothing brands, you can find tech, food, cosmetics, and other categories with UNiDAYS discounts available.
