One of the most exciting parts about having your own space is getting to decorate it. Whether you’re about to move into a new apartment or looking to liven up your current one, here are five shows you can binge to get inspired.
Property Brothers
This HGTV show follows identical twin brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, as they help people find fixer-uppers and transform them into their dream homes. Drew is a real estate expert, so he helps find the properties while Jonathan, a licensed contractor, heads up the renovation process.
Fixer Upper
Chip and Joanna Gaines are household names now, but they got their start on this HGTV series. In each episode, they show a couple three potential homes, all of which require renovations. Once the couple picks a house, Chip works as the lead contractor and Joanna handles the design work. If you like their style, check out the Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines line at Target.
Queer Eye
After its original debut on Bravo in 2003, Netflix released a reboot of Queer Eye in 2018. In each episode, the fab five (Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk, and Jonathan Van Ness) work together to give someone a makeover. Bobby is an interior designer, so he spends his time redecorating the contestant’s home, or a space that’s important to them.
Rehab Addict
Rehab Addict was originally on the DIY Network but has since moved to HGTV. In the series, designer and host Nicole Curtis works to restore old homes to their former glory. Nicole doesn’t like to make significant structural changes to the homes she works on, so many of her DIY projects are things you can easily do in your own space.
Tiny House Nation
If you’re trying to make the most of small-space living, Tiny House Nation is the show for you. In each episode, renovation experts John Weisbarth and Zack Giffin help families around the country build houses that are 500 square feet or less. You can stream it on Netflix.
